This is an aggressive move to woo College students yes, but I think the second half of the Mac Rumors post nails it. This is an attempt to get the touch platform into the hands of more people. With the 3G iPhone sure to come out next week, and the official release of the iPhone SDK, Apple is posed to dominate the PDA platform and much more. I don’t think we are talking about just Cell Phones, but a single convergence device that is always connect to the web with a true natural interface. Web 2, user generated contact, interactivity, social networking, everything literally at your fingertips. Pair this with the over-sized iPhone tablet and we may have a platform that will revolutionize the world. This could be what the Tablet PC wants to be. Next week will be the keynote to watch.
Perhaps like they did with the Apple II, Macintosh, Mac OS X, and iPod before it, Apple is again going to change the world.
